I’m Erica, a 27-year-old therapist by trade; stay at home mom by heart. I live in the mountains of California and have grown to love it, most of the time. My biggest passion is honestly my family, which has changed a great deal recently. Our household is different than many; to be specific, we have a multigenerational household. I live with my step father (Randy), my kinda-sorta-brother (Andy), my husband (Colten), and the little ball of light that everyone’s life revolves around (Harrison). We are moving into a huge home (2700 square feet!) soon, but missing one family member that was supposed to move with us…my mom.
I wanted to document how I plan on making this house, a home. Not only that, I wanted to be able to help others build their house into a home. Even though our house is getting larger, we are working on downsizing. I love organizing and keeping things at a (relatively) clean status…which I must say is difficult with so many people in the house. I also love interior design, but (like many) we are definitely on a budget! So, finding things that can be updated or redone is big for me.
Aside from that, my husband and I want to begin growing our family a little more! Juggling kids, family, a home, and yourself can be challenging; to say the least. Holding down a job on top of it all makes everything a little more complicated. It is my hope that through sharing the tips and tricks I have learned about balance will help me help others. Because life is not easy. But, it’s a little things that we get to enjoy along the ride that make everything so worth it.
And most of all, myself. We are constant, ever-changing beings. We are growing all the time. I want to make sure that I take care of myself, and hopefully teach others to care for themselves as well. Because, there is no way someone can pour from an empty cup. You must take care of yourself, so that you have enough in you to take care of others. For me, trusting that God has my back is a big part of this. I must admit, I am surely stubborn. So, I am constantly working to find out which direction God wants to take my life and maintaining some form of control.
Sure, life is chaotic! But, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Its bizarre, but you can find clarity within the chaos.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4: 6 – 7
